Grateful for the ugly things

A poem

Yesterday, I was told
It’s possible to have what’s old
The word was something ugly and not so pretty
Yet you are grateful for it

Ccgordon followed a prompt on this
I wouldn’t have known a community was writing about it
And I’ve promised to give an attempt
To such a prompt I shouldn’t be absent

But before I drive down memory lane
I’m writing a short poem
Just thinking and thanking Yahweh
Who uses even ugly things to make me firm

My response to the prompt is cooking
Maybe today or another day it will be done
But my heart implodes and explodes with thanksgiving
To God whose will shall always be done
